Moving With The Times

On A Personal Note

Can you believe that it is nearly a whole year since the first lockdown!  It’s been a weird one, emotions have on occasions been overwhelming - veering from mild terror to impatience, uncertainty and also a sense of inevitability about the whole thing.  This pandemic has been as divisive as Brexit …. oh the halcyon days of Brexit!!!  Often our own friends or family have shocked us by perhaps their dismissiveness or disregard for the rules.  Whatever camp you are in, it has been hugely unsettling.

By this point pretty much everyone now knows someone who has contracted Covid, some mildly, some more seriously and sadly some fatally.  We’ve all had to deal with someone that is a self-pronounced expert, and rather than believe the Scientists that have spent their lives studying and working in the field of infectious diseases, they know better …. cos so & so on Facebook says such & such …. so it must be true!

What do we do now then?  We are all pinning our expectations on the great white hope that is the 12th April 2021, where hopefully many restrictions are going to be eased.  Much has been bandied about in the press about us being ‘pack animals’ and not designed to be alone.  This most recent lockdown seems to have been harder, perhaps because it is Winter and outside opportunities are more limited and unfortunately the sun has only made rare appearances.  Most people are now very ready for some social interaction. Now the snowdrops are out, the daffs are blooming and there is a spring like smell in the air which definitely lifts the spirits.

The Business End

We’ve had a little look at the personal impact of the pandemic, but what about Business?  Recent news hasn’t been encouraging regarding the shrinking of the economy, but it's hardly surprising.  It is an inevitable, but sad, fact that not every business is going to survive the extraordinary events of the last year.  I mean, how many companies out there stated ‘Pandemic’ as a potential barrier to success or growth?!  Well, except for Wimbledon Tennis, in who's insurance policy it had been added in – give that member of staff a medal, or at the least a pay rise!

As a small local business ourselves, we have spent a lot of time working with our customers to ensure that we are still able to provide our high level of service, and with our suppliers to ensure that we, and they, adapt our business practices to suit the new workplace.  Here are some things that you might find useful.

Remote Support

We offer a Remote Panel Service that allows our engineers to access your devices to resolve problems, without the need for a site visit. This clever piece of software grants us with the same access as if we were stood in front of the machine.  Calum Smith, Lanier SW Managing Director, has been working closely with suppliers over the last year to ensure that the company can offer the highest level of service, no matter what the situation.  “It means that we can still fix support issues for our customers, even if we can not go to their place of business.  This is essential at the moment when we are frequently unable to physically attend client offices and locations.”

A Secure Environment

We can offer you the option to avoid using the touchscreen of your Toshiba MFD.  Instead you can use a simple app from your mobile.  It gives you all the same functionality as you would if you were actually using the panel, and it’s super easy to use.  For more information check out the full article.

Prevent Infection Entering

The iDISPLAY Thermometer is a touch-less, friction-less method of temperature measurement. It allows your business to operate in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner. Within a matter seconds it is able to read body temperatures, and alert users, and designated associates if they have a fever.

A Clean Environment

The SmartMister is an innovative option to clean your work or office space.  It is a simple device that sits in your office and overnight sanitises the space, doesn’t get much easier than that!

We are working hard to adapt our business so that we can offer you the solutions you need to work effectively in any environment.  Get in touch if you would like more information on any of the products that we have highlighted in this article.
