Consequently, our environmental  principles of achieving the most harmonious relationship possible between the products we offer and the environment.


Our aim is to provide our customers with useful products and services, but also to minimise their environmental impact, while maximising their economic value. Furthermore, we only work with those manufactures that define “environmental impact” in the broadest sense, to include the global effects of all product life phases – beginning with selection of the raw materials and components through to development, production, distribution, service and disposal.


By choosing the right manufactures we have seen the energy efficiency of their MFP products reduce dramatically. 

Toner & Recycling

“Only about 15% of the 65 million printer ink and toner cartridges used in the U.K. are recycled. The majority end up in landfill, where it can take more than a thousand years for them to break down. Although some of these ink and toner cartridges can be refilled, many third party re-fillers do not collect them, resulting in a large proportion ending up in landfill sites”.

As one of the many initiatives the recycling of ink and  toner cartridges is one of the most significant. Toner cartridges can be recycled into a diverse range of products such as road traffic bollards, crab pots, garden planters and equestrian equipment .


We have established an advanced recovery and recycling for your used  toners & inks we have supplied, (Collection is done when passing  or called to site free of charge). As many cartridges contain parts that can be recycled with no detrimental effect on quality. The cartridges are inspected and any damaged ones are sent to a recycles for the recovery of the plastic & metal. The remaining cartridges are stripped down and cleaned, certain parts are replace and then they are re-assembled and tested.

We are also able to help with those that we haven’t supplied, by using a leading WEEE disposal specialist to offer our customers the option of recycling their ink and toner cartridges. By enrolling in the scheme you can help reduce the environmental impact of your own organisation by ensuring our toner cartridges and bottles never reach landfill sites and are instead re-used.

We would also highlight that our original toner is neither toxic nor carcinogenic.

The Toner Recycling Service

The toner recycling scheme is straight forward and user friendly:

  • Sign up to the scheme to receive specially designed toner collection bags and cable ties. On average, the bags hold approximately twenty four units
  • You will also be able to recycle the cardboard packaging in which the toner is packaged in the same bags
  • Once full, you will need to call and arrange collection
  • The scheme accepts toner bottles and cartridges from any manufacturer
  • Materials recovered in the process are used to manufacture a variety of products including washing machine parts, traffic cones, building materials, fire alarm casings and games consoles- products which can, in turn, be recycled again

Participation in this scheme costs just £34.50 per bag, which includes provision of the bag, collection and recycling of consumables.

CO2 emissions

As CO2 emissions are believed to play a key role in global warming, the reduction of these emissions represent a significant goal of world-wide environmental protection. In order to achieve these goals, we at Lanier have ensured that our suppliers have the same goals in reducing the energy consumption of its products.

Since 1978, the Blue Angel seal has been awarded to environmental-friendly systems. Blue Angel evalutes a systems energy consumption, niose emissions and recyclabity. Since energy consumption is directly  related to emissions of CO2, a crucial greenhouse gas, Blue Angel devices are helping to reduce CO2 emissions.Systems have been awarded the German "Blue Angel" ecology label for products manufactured in an environmentally-friendly manner. Particularly among the MFP products the proportion devices we offer bear the "Blue Angel" label.

Waste Packaging

A further necessary step for the protection of our raw materials became effective by a packaging statute.


Since that time the volume of packaging materials has been reduced by approx. 50%. Polystyrene and plastics are nowadays only used for special transportation items.


All our used materials can be recycled, i. e. our transportation pallets which mainly consist of millboard.

All our plain paper systems function perfectly with paper corresponding to DIN 19309, "paper for copying purposes". This standard covers normal paper as well as recycled paper.


We recommend paper corresponding to DIN 19309 for a trouble-free operation of our systems. This is one of the conditions for the environmental marks "Blue Angel" and "Swan Label".


Lower paper quality can be responsible for paper jams and shorter maintenance intervals. Paper not corresponding to DIN 19309 is characterized by extremely short strings and can be very resinous and dust-laden.


Please ask your paper supplier for advice, and support our environment by choosing the right kind of paper.

As of June 1st, 2007, the REACH regulation became valid in the European Union. It regulates the registration, evaluation, restriction and licensing of chemicals.


On the basis of the information available to us, all relevant materials and preparations of our products were pre-registered and/or registered within the prescribed period. Our products do not contain any materials which were classified as dangerous according to REACH.


As a so-called “downstream user“ we are not responsible for the pre-registration and/or registration of such materials. Yet, we follow our obligation to ascertain and pass on information.

Plant Based Plastics and Biomass toner. The development of Biomass resins for use in plastic components and toners . The industry produced its first multifunctional device with 50% Biomass content., and in 2009 the world’s first device with Biomass toner (25% content).

  • Pre-owned systems: these are end of initial life systems refurbished for a second term producing 40% fewer carbon emissions over their lifetime.
  • The Green consultancy: saves companies significant operational and energy costs by analysing and calculating existing costs, CO2 emissions and impacts and proposing a solution to save up to 30% in energy costs.
  • Parts recovery: we recover used parts, consumables and end of life equipment reducing the demand for raw materials.
  • One remanufacturing process has introduced a “dry washing” process to clean components, resulting in the elimination of waste water and reduced energy consumption.
  • Using a polymerisation process to manufacture toner has resulted in a saving of 30% of the energy used to make toner in the traditional way. This toner delivers a sharper image with a lower fusing temperature, thus making further energy savings.
  • Quick Start-Up technology is a key factor in energy reduction on devices. By reducing the time taken to recover from Energy Save mode, customers don’t have to wait too long to use their product.

  • In 2007 the first energy-saving printers that use GELJET technology. These highly efficient printers have a maximum energy consumption of less than 35 watts, equivalent to that of a fluorescent light. Not only do these eco-friendly printers conserve energy but they also massively cut customer energy costs.
  • Secure print solutions ensure documents are not released until they are authorised at the device, which enables unwanted prints to be cancelled and increases document security. There is also a reduction of over 25% in paper used, making a significant contribution to lower CO2 and lowered costs.
  • ISO 14001  and ISO9000 certification, for swift and efficient handling of environmental issues in each product life phase – from selection of the raw materials and components through to development, production, distribution, use, service and disposal.
